Chris had been living in his home for more than 10 years and hadn’t had a holiday for quite some time.
When the idea of a two-night trip came up, Chris, his family and Achieve began planning how to make it happen.
Chris chose Darling Harbour in Sydney, an area he already knew from previous day trips.
The trip took some planning. Chris travelled by taxi to and from home, and two adjoining hotel rooms were booked so a support worker could be there to support him around the clock.
Some activities were planned in advance with Chris and his family. Other decisions, including where to eat and what activities to do, were made during the trip.
Chris travelled around Sydney by light rail and ferry and was supported to make his own choices throughout the holiday.
One of the highlights was seeing the latest Spider-Man movie in Gold Class. Chris also visited the Maritime Museum, where he was given a personalised tour of the tall ship.
After such a long time without a holiday, the two-night trip gave Chris the chance to spend time somewhere he enjoyed, try new things and have a break from his usual routine.
