At Achieve, Community Participation is about supporting people to take part in everyday life in a way that builds confidence, independence, and real connection. It’s structured support, tailored to each person, and designed to help people make progress toward what matters to them.

Lucy had always dreamed of travelling, and with careful planning from her Achieve support team, that dream became a reality. She recently enjoyed an unforgettable trip to the Gold Coast.

Thoughtful planning was prioritised from the very start. This included:

  • Flights, accommodation and transport being organised

  • Sea World tickets arranged

  • Risk assessment completed with Lucy and her family

  • Personalised itinerary created

  • Supports tailored to Lucy’s goals, comfort and independence

  • Increased independence

  • Confidence in navigating new environments

  • Social connection and community engagement

  • Lifelong memories

A Journey of Confidence

From the moment Lucy departed, she embraced her adventure with excitement. Lucy settled into her hotel, explored the Esplanade, enjoyed dining out and proudly managed her own medication and documentation, a milestone in Lucy’s independence.

New Experiences & Joyful Moments

Lucy made the most of everything the Gold Coast had to offer. She enjoyed a memorable day at Sea World, exploring the shows and exhibits, and said it was "the best day ever".

Her holiday also included beach walks, shopping along Cavill Avenue, ten-pin bowling, sightseeing, and a scenic river cruise past the city skyline. She visited the night markets, dined out, and treated herself to plenty of delicious ice cream.

Every experience helped build Lucy's confidence and connection with the community. Most importantly, she was filled with pure joy throughout the trip.

Feeling Like a Star

Lucy’s trip home was just as special. She had a luxury airport transfer with leather recliners and sunroofs, which really made Lucy feel like a movie star! This was the perfect finale to an unforgettable journey.

A Meaningful Impact, The Power of Community Participation

Lucy’s story highlights what person-centred support can achieve:

This is Community Participation at its very best.
