Yes. The program is designed for people with different support needs. Past years have included accessible equipment such as beach wheelchairs and support for people with mobility and sensory needs. The team adapts activities based on each participant’s goals.
Achieve Australia staff run the program each day. Staff are experienced in supporting people with disability in community settings. The team works with families, support coordinators and local providers to ensure participants are safe and supported.
Participants can use NDIS Core Supports funding (Community Participation / Access Community Social and Rec Activities) to cover the cost of attending. This funding is flexible and can be used for support worker hours during community-based activities.
No. Core Supports is the main funding type used. Capacity Building can only be used if a participant already has a specific goal in their plan that aligns with the program’s outcomes, but Core is the standard funding pathway.
Yes. Support Coordinators can send a referral or enquiry to Achieve. Program details, dates, NDIS alignment and contact points are available to make the process fast and simple.
You can:
- Submit an expression of interest through the webpage
- Contact Achieve Australia directly
- Ask your Support Coordinator to make the referral
The team will discuss your goals, support needs and funding before confirming your place.
Families are welcome to speak with the team about visits. The program is designed to give participants independence and social connection, but flexible arrangements can be discussed.
Transport varies by location. The team will confirm transport options and what can be claimed through Core Supports as part of planning.
A simple day-pack with:
- Sunscreen
- Swimwear and towel
- Any personal items or medication
- A True North water bottle and hat will be gifted to you at the start of the program
Participants receive guidance on what to bring before the program starts.
Meals are not included unless noted otherwise. Participants can bring lunch or use their Core Supports for meal-related assistance.
The team reviews each participant’s goals with them or with their Support Coordinator. The program links to community participation, social and communication skills, confidence building and independence. These are all common NDIS goals.
New participants can join. The team will complete an intake conversation before confirming a place.
Staff can introduce the environment slowly, offer quieter activities and support participants through new experiences. This is a common concern for many people, and the program is built around easing into activities.
Staff maintain safe ratios, choose accessible venues, work with local councils and surf lifesaving teams and adjust plans when conditions change. Past years have included council support, beach accessibility equipment and strong local networks.
Families and Support Coordinators can request updates. Staff can provide daily check-ins if needed.
