At The Sewing Basket, we are committed to reducing waste and promoting sustainability by giving new life to donated fabrics and other sewing items.
Here's how we do it.
Donations
100% of items sold in The Sewing Basket stores are donated by the community.
Sorting and selling
Donated items are carefully sorted, categorised and priced for sale. The aim is to have all the items for sale find new homes quickly, in turn making more space for newly donated stock.
Upcycling and recycling
Items that cannot be sold are passed on to companies that specialise in upcycling. The Sewing Basket tries to divert items from landfill and partners with recyclers and upcyclers to find avenues to move unsaleable stock.
Community projects
The Sewing Basket supports many charities and government initiatives by supplying items for these projects at low or no cost.
