The Achieve Foundation is a separate organisation to Achieve Australia with its own board of directors and senior management team.

Our research and projects

The Achieve Foundation commissioned the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Non-profit Studies (ACPNS) at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) to research the current state of disability philanthropy in Australia.

The resulting report, Philanthropy for people with disability in Australia: Actors and Insights found the level of funding for disability is small, fragmented and typically focuses on a particular type of disability and often only in a specific state or territory.

The report identifies significant opportunities to create a network of funders dedicated to removing barriers to inclusion. The research also highlights several misconceptions such as that philanthropy is not needed because Australia has the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). In reality, there are some 4.4 million people in Australia with disability and the NDIS provides supports for only about 470,000 of them. The NDIS is not tasked with dismantling barriers to inclusion for all people with disability in Australia.
