28 March 2019

Achieve Australia will present Summer Hill House at a special launch event for people with disability, their families and invited guests on Sunday, 31 March 2019.

Recently renamed as Summer Hill House, the service offers NDIS funded short term accommodation for people with an intellectual disability, high physical support and/or complex health needs.

Summer Hill House will provide a new benchmark for expert care, customer experience and accessibility for people with disability and their families.

The accommodation service is also open to families who may be travelling to Sydney on short stays. The services are designed not only for the local community, but also for those who may be visiting from interstate and who need a provider they can trust to deliver the best possible care for their family member.

At the end of 2018, Achieve Australia secured a formal transfer of services from Family and Community Services (FACS) for the Summer Hill facility, which also includes two purpose-built group homes. The handover has seen more than 100 participants and staff join Achieve’s services at Summer Hill.

Naomi Fraser leads a professional team of nursing staff at Summer Hill as House Manager. “Due to the complex health and support needs of many of our clients, we work really closely with families to provide both individual and tailored support for everyone in our care, and to ensure we are the right fit,”  Ms Fraser said.

As part of the launch event for invited guests, there will be family activities and entertainment, a free barbeque lunch, tours, a petting zoo, plus an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. There will also be an opportunity to meet with on-site nursing staff and hear about new activities and events that are planned for the year ahead.

Guests will include current participants and families, industry colleagues and local supporters as well as Achieve and Summer Hill House staff.
