Achieve Australia introduces domestic violence leave for staff

7 March 2019

Achieve Australia is showing our support for International Women’s Day, 8 March 2019 with the launch of paid Family and Domestic Leave for our staff.

Effective March 9, 2019, all employees will have access to paid  Family and Domestic Violence Leave including part-time and casual employees on a pro-rata basis.

“By providing access to paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave we are showing Achieve Australia's commitment to creating a more balanced, safe and equitable workplace,” said People, Culture and Performance Executive, Lorraine Salloum.

“Domestic violence affects families in our community just like so many other work communities in Australia. Knowing that you have support at work is vital if you are in a crisis situation,” Ms Salloum said.

Achieve Australia offers its employees a range of options to support work-life harmony. Creating a supportive and equitable workplace offers benefits both to our employees and our organisation including the opportunity to:

  • increase morale and staff engagement levels
  • foster individual skills and talents
  • develop a more inclusive workplace culture
  • improve health and wellbeing
  • explore career aspirations.

“The advantages of creating a more supportive, equitable and gender-balanced community and workforce cannot be understated, but we know that everyone has a role to play,” Ms Salloum said.

As an organisation, we are taking action towards fairness, inclusion and parity for all women and it is our hope to provide even more programs such as this in the future,” she said.

Achieve Australia is also holding celebration events to mark International Women’s Day across our service hubs in NSW.
