Remuneration and awards

Salary sacrificing

As a not-for-profit organisation Achieve offers salary sacrificing or salary packaging to all permanent staff. This is designed to significantly reduce the income tax a person pays.

Salary sacrifice arrangements can include using pre-taxed salary for:

  • car payments
  • car parking
  • rent or mortgage repayments
  • school fees
  • loan or credit card repayments
  • everyday purchases such for groceries and fuel.

Novated car leasing options

Employees can also access novated leasing to purchase a car (new and used) and cover the car’s running costs for additional tax savings.

Employee referral program

Achieve believes its greatest asset are its people who deliver services and supports to our clients. To make sure we employ the best of the best, we offer an incentive for our staff to refer people they believe would be an asset to the team.

Salary reviews

Frontline staff have their remuneration reviewed in line with the Modern Award related to their role. For example, the Modern Nurses Award or Social Community Homecare and Disability award (SCHAD). Increases are aligned to FairWork annual reviews and the conditions set out in the relevant award.

Remuneration reviews for non-award staff  occur each September as part our annual performance planning and talent review process.

People with disability are an important part of our workforce

We believe the power of inclusion for people with disability includes offering great jobs. We do this through our commercially successful social enterprises, The Sewing Basket and AchievAble Enterprises and our Quality Champions team who meet with our clients to review our service quality and recommend areas for improvement. Our corporate services teams also include people with disability.

Leading the sector

Our employees know they are integral to making a difference to the lives of people with disability everyday through the services we provide. They also value our efforts to innovate new ways of bringing inclusion to life for people with disability and to elevate their voices in all that we do. Some of our best ideas come from our employees. When the first COVID lockdown hit, staff created an online version of our day programs with a well-supported and extensive library of activities we continued to use each lockdown period. A new social service launched in 2022, the Friday Night Hangout, was another idea from a staff member.

In addition to our disability employment efforts described above, Achieve is also working directly with young people with lived experience of disability and their families to design new day program activities. And we investing in and working with The Achieve Foundation and Inclusive Housing Australia (IHA). The Foundation is funding and taking part in research to create housing and supports that connect people with intellectual and complex disability to community and to create more positive mindsets in society toward people with disability. IHA is at the forefront of creating homes for people with disability that suit their needs and aspirations.
