About the home
Welcome to Wentworthville, a community of 4 homes co-located on one property.
This welcoming household is shared by four men in their sixties, two of whom have been friends since they were toddlers. It is a place where longstanding connections grow stronger and new friendships are easily formed. Weekdays often include supported employment or community and lifestyle programs, while weekends bring opportunities to catch up with a wider group of friends. From cooking favourite meals together to relaxing with a movie, the atmosphere here feels like an extended family gathering. There is always time for lively chats about wrestling or car racing, and music fills the home with classic tunes from ABBA, the Eagles, and Billy Joel. Twice a week, everyone looks forward to music therapy, and those who enjoy exploring the city can hop on the ferry for a change of scenery. Families stay engaged through regular visits, and one housemate spends weekends with his mum, returning refreshed and ready to share stories.
Life at this home
Daily life is guided by each resident’s interests. Some enjoy a quieter start to the day, while others head out for a walk around the property’s luscious walking tracks. Soccer and bowling have been longtime favourites and staying active within each person’s comfort level remains a highlight. Housemates do their chores together, making sure the home runs smoothly and keeping that sense of shared responsibility. Sometimes they all gather around the television for a big match or watch the latest car races. When they are up for an adventure, a ferry ride to the city or an afternoon at the local pool is always on the table.
Support Model
Our nursing and support worker model includes round the clock registered nursing support from expert staff. A nurse visits each day to check in and oversee documentation, while support workers assist with medical appointments, groceries, and day to day needs. Transportation is available for day programs and outings in the wider community, ensuring everyone can stay connected to activities they enjoy. Weekly music therapy sessions bring even more opportunities for creativity, and of course families are welcome to join in at any time.
