Malik’s Story

Written by Achieve Australia | Sep 16, 2025 1:59:12 AM

Before Malik moved in, the Achieve team learned about his interests. This helped the team create the right opportunities for Malik to shine doing something he enjoyed. Malik's face lights up whenever he talks about his passion for puzzles. When he moved, he eagerly brought along his extensive puzzle collection. Not only did this bring comfort, but it also sparked a connection with his new neighbour, Laura*, who shares the same hobby.

This well-considered support enabled Malik to settle in with ease and make meaningful connections. These days he enjoys time with housemates, shopping trips, having lunch out and spending time with his new friends playing music and building puzzles. The Achieve team also organised a party to celebrate Malik’s 71st birthday with his loved ones.

Transitions are never easy, but meaningful and constant support helped Malik adjust to his new surroundings, introduced him to new people, and showed him new places while always providing him with a listening ear, which he and his family greatly appreciated.
