Ayesha's Story

Written by Achieve Australia | Nov 6, 2025 5:08:04 AM

In July 2023 Ayesha's support plan moved to Achieve. She was still living in the noisy share-house, but the Achieve team began visiting at set times each day. They brought calm voices, served meals at the same table, and dimmed the lights on schedule. These predictable cues gave her some relief while a longer-term plan took shape.

Over the next 18 months Achieve prepared a quiet, purpose-built studio for her. Ayesha visited every week, chose curtain colours, practised the path from bed to kitchenette, and met every support worker on the roster. The studio was ready in January 2025, and she moved in that month.

Today Ayesha starts each morning watering balcony plants, then makes breakfast at her own pace. Medication is on time and afternoons often finish with gentle swings in the courtyard, feet brushing the grass. Staff stay nearby to prompt, not control, and a night nurse monitors safety alarms so she can sleep without interruptions. Her grandparents now call her “a young woman living her best life,” certain this studio is the home she can grow into for good.
