This year’s STAR Awards opened with co-host Angela Johnston, setting the tone for an event focused on genuine appreciation. The ceremony recognised excellence across several categories that reflect both our purpose and our organisational principles. Awards included Delivering on our Passion, Delivering on our Purpose, Living our Principles of Inclusion, Elevating Voices, Growing Capacity, Valuing Resources, Engaging Practice, and the Social Enterprise Employee of the Year. Each category focused on staff who go above and beyond to support our clients, strengthen teams, and embody what Achieve stands for.

A highlight of the event was the Best Dressed award, which this year carried an extra layer of meaning. In line with the theme of Diversity and Inclusion, staff were invited to wear cultural attire that reflects their heritage. The room came alive with vibrant colours, traditional fabrics, and beautiful outfits representing cultures from Nepal to India and beyond. Achieve aims to create spaces where everyone feels safe, seen, and proud of who they are.

The event also acknowledged staff who have been part of Achieve for more than 25 years. Their long-term commitment is a testament to the supportive career pathways we offer. Many employees begin their careers as support workers and grow into leadership roles, specialist positions, or program management. The STAR Awards ceremony reinforces that hard work, dedication, and personal growth are not only recognised but also celebrated.

There were other awards, such as the Volunteer of the Year, Client Choice Award, Team of the Year, Chair’s Award, and finally, the Employee of the Year. These awards highlight the extent of contributions that make Achieve what it is: from frontline support workers to coordinators, volunteers, and corporate team members. every role matters, and every individual plays a part in delivering high-quality, person-centred support.

CEO Jo-Anne Hewitt closed the ceremony with a review of Achieve’s commitment to recognising excellence and investing in its people. As we continue to grow, the STAR Awards stand as a reminder that our staff are at the heart of everything we do.

This is an organisation that values its people, invests in their development, and celebrates their success. Whether through formal recognition like the STAR Awards or through the everyday culture of respect, collaboration, and inclusion, Achieve offers a workplace where people can build meaningful, fulfilling careers while making a difference.
