Achieving in the Workplace
Asanga Gunawardena joined Achieve Employment in early 2009.
Asanga had previously completed a Degree in Environmental Management and a Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management. He wanted to pursue his career within this industry.
Asanga worked closely with our Employment Consultants to develop an employment pathway plan which addressed the barriers which previously prevented him from getting and keeping a job. Asanga was soon actively job searching and attending job interviews. He was persistent.
In early 2010, Asanga struck a mini jackpot followed by a major one. He commenced work experience with a local Council in their environmental section and assisted with project management. The work experience placement empowered Asanga to apply for several Government graduate positions.
It is no surprise Asanga passed several challenging recruitment stages and secured himself a great job. He was one of only a few selected for graduate positions out of more than 1000 applicants.
