The 2011 annual Crowle Needlecraft Sale and Grand Bazaar on Saturday 7 May was a great success, with over 40 volunteers and staff members getting involved. The perfect weather helped maintain a constant flow of people throughout the day until well after lunch.
Thank you to everyone who took part on the day and ensured that everything ran smoothly.
Araluen Preview for Day Programs
6 May 2011
On 6 May, we had around 90 day program participants, family members and staff attend a preview of the newly purchased Araluen site.
Four sessions were held over the day and involved short talks from Business Development & Strategic Project Manager David Rafferty, new Operations Manager, Day Services Nathalie Neveu and Chief Operating Officer Lisa Rouse, followed by a tour of the site and sausage sizzle.
There was plenty of positive feedback, questions and suggestions, which we will take on board within the Day Programs Project Group.
Araluen has now become a construction site while renovations and modifications take place to improve accessibility.

Weekend Short Break to Ton O’ Fun
13-14 November 2010
A team of staff volunteered their time to take a group of 18 people we support on a weekend short-break in Forster/Tuncurry.
Here’s what some of the people had to say about the weekend:
Kathryn: “Meeting new staff and people as well as catching up with old friends was great. I loved the waterslides, although I didn’t get to ride them because I was too busy taking photos of everyone else! Great memories of family and friends!”
Teresa: “I felt so happy. I liked the food. Karaoke was good fun and the boat trip was the best! I had a really good time with everyone!”
Phillip: “Loved singing Human Nature and John Farnham songs when travelling to and from Ton O’ Fun. Riding the waterslides with John Paul and Mark was pretty good too!”
55th Annual Crowle Fete
6 November 2010 @ Crowle Home
We raised money for Achieve Australia's unfunded and underfunded programs through stall sales, auctions, and raffles sales at the 55th Annual Crowle Fete. John Alexander MP Federal Member for Bennelong and City of Ryde Mayor Artin Etmekdjian attended for the official proceedings, with Victor Dominello MP State Member for Ryde visiting at lunchtime. On the day Artin Etmekdjian said “I’ve only been in the area for about 11 years but I’ve always heard about Crowle Home and the success of the services they provide for the future of this area.”
The wet weather was a challenge but did not seem to deter our loyal customers who still ventured out to help make our Fete a successful event. Achieve Australia Ambassador, Duncan Armstrong, led interviews with the official party and added liveliness to the day by keeping everyone informed across the grounds about the stalls and acknowledging sponsors.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Fete both in preparation and on the day.
9th Annual Fundraising Golf Day and Dinner
20 October 2010 @ Avondale Golf Club
We were lucky to have perfect weather and from all reports the golfers enjoyed playing on the beautiful course at Avondale Golf Club. The day of golf undertaken by 90 golfers was followed by a relaxed evening with dinner, entertainment, presentations and auctions.
Some of the highlights of the night included a video of Julian Sharpe’s holiday to The Bahamas, guitar soloist Nick Lombardo from Marist College Eastwood, musical performance by Alex Dawe and Natalie Crook and the sale of several works of art by Cameron Sadigh for over $400.
Thank you to our two major sponsors, Count Charitable Foundation and Inghams Enterprises and to the Brain’s Trust for their personal commitment, financial support and willingness to include their friends, family and business networks to make the day a success. The Brain’s Trust has already set their minds to raising $100,000 for the 10th Annual Fundraising Golf Day next year!
